Well-placed for escapes
- Ko Samet: the classic — one of the Eastern Seaboard's prettiest islands, powder beaches and clear water, reached via the Ban Phe pier near Rayong (an easy drive east). The turquoise postcard Ban Chang's own beaches aren't;
- Pattaya: 30–40 minutes west for the full seaboard-city experience — shopping malls, nightlife, attractions and the training scene — then home to quiet;
- Rayong town & coast: the provincial capital's markets and the long Rayong beaches east of town;
- The Sattahip coast: navy-managed beaches west toward Sattahip — some of the region's cleaner, quieter sand;
- Ko Chang & the far east: a longer haul, but the Trat archipelago is within weekend reach.
Making them work
- Ban Chang's central position on the seaboard is its day-trip superpower — most of the East is within a comfortable drive;
- A vehicle transforms the options (transport);
- Combine with the wider country via our Thailand travel guide.
